Kalyn's Start

THREE YEARS AGO

"Mom?" I asked, in a nervous tone. My Mom walked in,
"Hm?" She asked, while drying one of the breakfast dishes.
"The animals, I can hear them"
"Well of course you can hear them" She replied.
"No, not like that. I can hear them, speaking to each other" Her face showed confusion.
"That's impossible. You must be imagining" She turned around and started to mutter something to herself.
"Mom, I'm not imaging" I said firmly. I sighed. She wasn't going to believe me.

THAT NIGHT

I climbed into bed and shut out the lights. I sighed. I hope my Mom was right. Maybe I was imagining things.
"Dave, she said she could hear the animals talking" I heard my parent's faint discussion from the kitchen. I crept out of bed and hid behind the staircase. I wasn't usually an eavesdropper but I had to know what my Mom was saying,
"Lila, maybe she was imagining things"
"Dave! Don't you remember!? Remember when we took Kalyn to the doctors that one time? They said that she could be.." Her voice trailed off. What could I be?
"Lila, calm down"
"I can't calm down when our daughter could be a mutant!" She shouted. A mutant? Oh please, no!
"You'll wake her up" My Dad said.
"They said that it could show up around puberty!! She's at that age and she's hearing animals?! There's no mistake Dave!! I wished with all my heart that it was just a miscalculation on the doctor's part but aparently not!" I'm a mutant? How? Neither of my parents are.
"What are we going to tell her?" My Dad asked.
"I don't know!" My Mom shouted. I ran into my room and my parents shot their heads up and saw me run in. My parents hurried up the stairs and into my room.
"I can't be one, Mom!" I cried through sobs.

NOW

"MOM!" I hollered through the house as I came in the door from school with the mail in my hands.
"Hm?"
"There's something for me!"
"Okay" I ripped open the letter and it read,

Dear Kalyn,

You have probably figured out by now that you are a mutant. There is a unknown school that is for people like you and we would like to accept you in. Please RSVP by tomorrow morning if you plan to attend.

My Mom looked up from her letter in tears.
"Mom, can I go?" I asked "There'll be people like me, I won't feel so alone" I added. Tears streamed down her face.
"Yes" And she wiped her tears away and embraced me in a tight hug.
"Why are you crying?" I asked.
"Because I don't want to see you go" She said as she pulled away.

-1 month after Jake was picked up-

This time, Jake got to GO with them to pick a girl up.
She was the same age as hime.
Kalyn Warder. Hmm. I wonder what powers she has.
Jake got out of the ship, they let him get her alone.
He knocked on the door. A man answered.
"Are you a...mutant?"
"Yes sir, sure am. Thanks for not calling me a mutie, by the way. I'm looking for Kalyn."
"I'm Jake." I said.
The woman looked at me.
"You don't LOOK like a mutant."
I changed into her, then her husband. "Who do I LOOK like now?"
I silently laughed, then changed back.
They looked scared.
"May I come in?"
"Y-Y-Y-Yes."
I came in. Nice house. Animal print everywhere.
I met Kalyn
"Hi Kalyn, I'm Jake Garcia. Or Mimic, as Professor X calls me.."
"I'm also a mutant. And I heard you can fly, do you have other powers?"

"Yeah, I can communicate with animals" I replied. "That's why there's all sorts of animal prints in the house" I added. I grabbed my stuff and embraced my parents.
"I'll miss you" My Mom whispered in my ear.
"I'll miss you too" I answered. I hugged my dad and he said,
"Don't get into any mischief"
"I won't" I replied.
I turned around and followed Jake out to where they were taking me to SuperHero High.
We walked and walked until we reached the dock that led off huge ships.
"Is this what they're taking me in?" I asked.

"Yeah. Hang on a sec."
"Jake Garcia, aka Mimic birthdate Jan-6-94."
Jake whispers his password.
The ship opened, and the robot maids took Kalyn's luggage.
"Sit wherever." Jake said.
He sat in the front, close to the window.
"Go." He told the pilot.
The pilot took off.
-15 seconds later-
"Ok, we're here."
Jake got out.
OOC:Post in Kalyn at the school.

"Whoa! That took like 15 seconds!!" I shouted. We got my stuff from the robotic maids and got to the school. It was GINORMOUS!! I just let my eyes wander around.
"So what powers do you have?" I asked Jake

Jake turned into a literal copy of Kalyn's father.
"Would you like to ask me that again?"
He changed back, laughing.
"I can become anyone, in their clothing. If they have powers, I can use them. But not in my form. I have to be them."

"Wow. You were my dad!" I shouted I looked around again.
"How big IS this place??" I asked. I slwoly walked around in a circle in awe of how big this place was.

"Like, 14 stories. Your room is right here. Across the hall from mine."
OOC:Jake and Erika all over again on here haha.

OCC:LOL.

"Really?!" I ran across the hallway and looked up and saw how high those stairs went up.
"I wonder what room I'm gonna have..."

"411. Whoa, you're right next to me!"

"Really? Awesome!" I ran up the stairs and onto the fourth floor. Jake followed after me.
"You coming slow poke?" I called teasingly.

I followed and laughed.

I burst into my room and it was beautiful! Gosh this school is like rich or something!

I went into my room and layed down.

I plopped all my luggage down onto my bed and immediatly began to unpack. This is gonna be AWESOME!!

Jake closed his door. He looked at pictures of his family. He started to cry.
"Ugh." he said.

I loaded my things into my dresser and set up my bed.
I knocked on Jake's door but I heard muffled sniffling. Is he okay?

Jake wiped his eyes. He made sure he looked like he hadn't been crying. He was good at faking. He smiled. He opened the door. "What's up?"

"Do we get these rooms ALL to ourselves?!?!" I asked. I caught a glimpse of his room. It looked pretty nice considering we just all got here.

"Yeah."
"ALL SOPHMORES REPORT TO THE GYMNASIUM FOR TRAINING."
Jake said "Suit on!" His clothes disappeared and his suit appeared.
"You have one too." He told Kalyn. "It was scanned on when you came in the door."

"Whoa. How do I get in on?" I asked.

"Kalyn, suit on."
Her suit came on.
"Your clothes are in your room. To get them back, say suit off."
"Race you to the gym."
He started to run.

I darted off after Jake. I was determined to beat him. I flew down the stairs and swung over the railing. I think Jake is gonna be a good friend.

Jake changed into her.
"NO CHEATING!" He said, in her voice.
Then, he changed into Quicksilver.
He was there 2 seconds later.
"Oopsies.." He said when she got there. "Did I cheat?"

"YES!" She hollered disapointedly.
"You really shouldn't race shape shifters" I said to myself.
